Pathways at Liberty Park
Pathways at Liberty Park is the Respite Ministry of The Church at Liberty Park. The ministry is designed to meet the social and emotional needs of older adults and their caregivers. It provides activities and socialization opportunities outside the home in a safe and caring setting for older adults with mild to moderate memory loss disorders and their caregivers. It provides their caregiver with emotional support through a caregiver support group, information regarding available resources, and personal time away during the day in which to rest and address their own needs.
Beginning in late October 2024, Pathways at Liberty Park will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 10:00am until 2:00pm. To learn more about this ministry or to register your family member or loved one as a participant, please contact Leigh Simmons at leigh.simmons@libertypark.org.
Pathways at Liberty Park Kickoff Lunch
Do you have a family member or loved one living with the effects of memory loss, brain aging, Alzheimer’s, or Dementia. If so, join us at 11:00am on Monday, September 16th as Dr. Rita Jablonski and Dr. Renee B. Harmon discuss these issues. This event is free to the community and a complimentary lunch will be provided for those who register.
Dr. Rita Jablonski is an established researcher, professor and clinician. She desires to offer those with dementia and their caregivers the most current information in a supportive environment. Dr. Jablonski will be speaking on the advancements in this area.
Dr. Renee B. Harmon is the author of Surfing the Waves of Alzheimer’s: Principles of Caregiving That Kept Me Upright. She and her husband, Harvey, S. Harmon, MD, ran a successful family practice clinic in the Birmingham, Alabama area until he was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease and was forced to retire. Her memoir chronicles the eight years of Harvey’s illness and offers thoughtful guidelines for caregivers. Now recently retired herself, Dr. Harmon is a frequent speaker, devoted grandmother, hiker, and traveler. She publishes a weekly blog at reneeharmon.com and is working on a second memoir tentatively titled LifeHikes; How I Walked Through Grief.
